Nonstationary models for shallow lakes
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we study the behaviour of solutions of Navier{Stokes equations with adherence to the bottom and traction by wind at the surface when the aspect ratio = depth=lenght of the domain tends to 0. Precisely we prove that when wind is moderate, a variational solution converges to the solution of a vertical diiusion model. This model is either quasistationary or nonstationary, according to the characteristic time.

Artificial neural networks and remote sensing in the analysis of the highly variable Pampean shallow lakes.
Suspended organic and inorganic particles, resulting from the interactions among biological, physical, and chemical variables, modify the optical properties of water bodies and condition the trophic chain. The analysis of their optic properties through the spectral signatures obtained from satellite images allows us to infer the trophic state of the shallow lakes and generate a real time tool f...

متن کاملChironomid-based classification of lakes in western Finnish Lapland
For the implementation of the Water Framework Directive we need to develop an informative and cost-effective set of biological monitoring and assessment methods, especially for remote areas. Chironomids are known to be an abundant and speciesrich group that dominate the aquatic macroinvertebrate assemblages in the north and therefore should be an integral part of monitoring and assessment plans...
متن کاملHigh Resolution Digital Terrain Models of Shallow Lake Basins - towards Modelling Dynamics of Sedimentation for Multithematic Ecosystems Research
Research on GIS applications in the real world context has to be strengthened besides developing GIS application software itself. An ecologically important field of applications is the integration of GIS technology in wetlands research. Documentation, analysis and modelling of spatial data of wetlands and lakes supports ecological research and planning to the highest extent. High resolution ter...
متن کاملCommunity Structure and Environmental Conditions in Florida Shallow Lakes Dominated by Submerged Aquatic Vegetation
Gu, B. and M.V. Hoyer. 2005. Community structure and environmental conditions in Florida shallow lakes dominated by submerged aquatic vegetation. Lake and Reserv. Manage. 21(4):403-410. Florida inland waters are dominated by shallow lakes, many of which support the growth of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). We examined the species composition and selected environmental variables of SAV-domin...
